Shelter Hall is Brighton’s premier seafront food market and bar. It is a ‘re-imagined food hall unlike any other, serving non-stop originality and curated menus to the good people of Brighton.’
The hall boasts seven rotating kitchens, two bars, sea view terrace and intimate balconies and is THE place to experience fantastic international cuisine. As well as live music, super clubs and pop ups from world renowned chefs.
Working alongside Sessions Market and the interior design firm We Like Today link we designed and built bespoke furniture for the incredible new space. All the furniture, including dining tables, benches and bar tables, was handmade using locally sourced reclaimed timber by our team of talented builders, makers (and pallet enthusiasts!).
The project began in 2021 with the design and build of Shelter Hall’s main dining tables and benches. And ended in ended in 2021 with the design and build of low cocktail tables for their secret ‘Skylark’ cocktail bar.
For the stunning, colourful main dining hall we designed and built long benches and feasting tables. As well as square & circular poseur tables and long, steel high bar tables. Finished with beautiful chairs and stool from the Andy Thornton Group. After the success of these designs we were subsequently asked to design some unique tables for their secret cocktail bar. The reclaimed timber, glass, steel and brass tables were built in collaboration with the fantastic Noble & Wood.

Throughout the design and build process we worked closely with the venue and the design team at We Like Today. We made site visits and put together initial design drawings and mood boards. To get to the final designs these sketches and drawings were worked on and progressed over many weeks. We also built sample items and carried out tests for varnish and stain finishes. The slick, modern interior or the venue was a fantastic counter balance to the rustic style of our tables and benches. The combination was a great fit!
